Editorial Standards

Last updated: 2 September 2026

LIMELIGHT publishes stories about music, royalty, and popular culture. Much of what is written in this field is rumour dressed as reporting. We have set out our standards here so readers know exactly what they are getting from us — and what they are not.

What We Publish

Our articles are retrospectives, histories, and cultural analysis. We write about events that have already happened and are documented, not about what someone might do next week. Every article is written from scratch by our editorial team.

What We Do Not Publish

  • We do not invent quotes. If a person is quoted on this site, they said it, and it is on the record somewhere you could check.
  • We do not report rumours as fact. Speculation about the private lives of living people is not something we trade in.
  • We do not scrape or republish other outlets’ work. Where another publication broke a story, we say so and link to them.
  • We do not write clickbait headlines. A headline is a promise about what the article contains. Ours are meant to be kept.

Sourcing and Accuracy

Dates, figures, and names are checked against primary or well-established secondary sources before publication. Where a claim is contested by historians or by the people involved, we say that it is contested rather than picking the more dramatic version.

Where we describe something as legend, tradition, or popular belief, we mean precisely that, and we distinguish it from documented fact in the text.

Corrections

We would rather be corrected than be wrong. If you spot an error — a date, a name, a figure, an attribution — write to editor@limelightgazette.com and tell us what is wrong and, if you can, what the correct information is.

Substantive corrections are made to the article and noted at the foot of it. Minor typographical fixes are made silently.

Independence and Advertising

This site is funded by display advertising. Advertisers have no influence over what we cover or how we cover it. No advertiser sees an article before it is published, and no article is written in exchange for payment. Where any relationship of that kind ever exists, it will be labelled clearly at the top of the article.

Images

We use licensed or properly credited photography. We do not hotlink images from other sites, and we respond promptly to any rights holder who believes we have used their work in error — see our DMCA page.
